Georgia dental practices lose money in the same quiet places as practices everywhere: benefits checked too lightly, write-offs accepted without comparing them to the fee schedule, and claims that sit unanswered past a plan’s deadline. Maximum Billing provides dental billing services for Georgia practices, handling verification, CDT coding, claims with attachments, payment posting, appeals, and follow-up inside the practice management system you already use.

- Payment posting by line, with every write-off compared to your PPO fee schedule.
- Denials and downgrades appealed with documentation, and corrected claims resubmitted.
- Insurance follow-up on every open claim, oldest and largest first.
- Medical billing for dental procedures such as oral surgery and trauma care when medical coverage applies.
- Patient statements that explain the balance after insurance.
Georgia Medicaid and Dental Practices
Practices that see Georgia Medicaid members work through the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH). Enrollment and claims run through GAMMIS, which DCH’s fiscal agent, Gainwell Technologies, operates. Georgia’s managed care plans, called Care Management Organizations, require a clinician to be an active Georgia Medicaid provider before credentialing, and that credentialing is centralized through a single verification organization built into GAMMIS, so one verified application serves every plan, though each plan still needs its own contract.
The current CMOs are Amerigroup, CareSource, and Peach State Health Plan, with contracts extended through June 30, 2027. A new procurement was still under protest as of April 2026, so the plan lineup may change, which is worth watching if a large share of your patients are Medicaid members. Our Georgia Medicaid provider enrollment guide covers GAMMIS in detail.
Georgia Revalidation Has Real Consequences
Georgia requires Medicaid revalidation at least every five years and enforces it. Providers who had not revalidated were suspended effective July 1, 2026, claims for dates of service after a suspension are not paid, and a suspended provider has 30 days before termination. For a dental office that bills Medicaid, a missed revalidation stops payment on every Medicaid claim, so we track the date alongside your PPO re-credentialing. See our dental credentialing services.
Where Georgia Dental Claims Lose Money
- Verification that stops at “active.” Coverage can be active while the annual maximum is nearly spent or a frequency limit has already been reached.
- Write-offs nobody checks. If the fee schedule in your software is outdated, the system writes off whatever the plan pays.
- Missing attachments. Crowns, buildups, and scaling and root planing stall without images or charting.
- Alternate benefit downgrades that could have been appealed.
- Secondary coverage that never gets billed.

What Georgia Practices Should Expect From a Billing Partner
A dental billing company should report numbers, not just activity: collections against what you are contractually owed, clean claim rate, days in accounts receivable, and claims past 90 days. It should sign a Business Associate Agreement before seeing any patient data and explain exactly what its fee covers. Our guide on how to choose a dental billing company lists the questions to ask.
