For Missouri dental practices, insurance billing means PPO networks with their own fee schedules and, for offices that see MO HealthNet members, a Medicaid program with unusual paperwork rules. Maximum Billing provides dental billing services for Missouri practices, from benefit breakdowns and CDT coding to attachments, write-off review, appeals, and follow-up, working inside the software your team already uses.

MO HealthNet and Dental Practices
Missouri’s Medicaid program, MO HealthNet, enrolls dentists as provider type 40, and enrollment is handled by the Missouri Medicaid Audit & Compliance (MMAC) Provider Enrollment Unit rather than the claims fiscal agent. MMAC does not accept a W-9 or 1099 as proof of tax ID; it wants an IRS document with the name and tax ID pre-printed, such as a CP-575 or 147C letter. Applications are processed in the order received, and one returned for corrections loses its place in line.
Since January 1, 2018, every provider in a MO HealthNet managed care network must also be enrolled with MO HealthNet. Missouri’s managed care plans are Healthy Blue, Home State Health, and UnitedHealthcare, plus Show-Me Healthy Kids for children in foster care and related groups. Our Missouri Medicaid provider enrollment guide walks through MMAC’s process.
Revalidation and Enrollment Upkeep
MO HealthNet requires revalidation at least every five years, with due dates shown in eMOMED. In May 2026, MMAC also announced an off-cycle revalidation for certain high-risk provider types. Individual dentists are exempt from the application fee. We keep Medicaid and PPO credentialing dates on one calendar. See our dental credentialing services.
Where Missouri Dental Offices Leave Money Behind
- Estimates built on incomplete benefits, which turn into patient balance complaints.
- Write-offs accepted at whatever the plan reported.
- Frequency denials for cleanings, bitewings, and fluoride billed too soon.
- Claims for crowns and perio treatment held up for missing attachments.
- Second plans that never receive a claim.
- Aging claims with no follow-up schedule.
