Maximum Billing

Georgia simplifies one part of credentialing and is strict about another. Credentialing for every Georgia Medicaid managed care plan runs through one central verification, so you are not proving the same facts to each plan. But Georgia enforces revalidation hard: providers who had not revalidated were suspended on July 1, 2026. Maximum Billing provides credentialing services for Georgia practices, from GAMMIS enrollment and plan contracts to commercial plans, Medicare, CAQH, and revalidation.

What We Handle for Georgia Practices

  • GAMMIS enrollment through the Enrollment Wizard, choosing standard, managed-care-only, or ordering, prescribing, and referring enrollment.
  • Ownership and managing-employee disclosures, which Georgia will not enroll without.
  • Group enrollment, with each clinician affiliated and linked correctly.
  • Care Management Organization contracts after centralized credentialing.
  • Commercial plans and Medicare, including PECOS.
  • CAQH ProView profiles kept attested.
  • Revalidation tracking, so no clinician is suspended.

Georgia Medicaid Through GAMMIS

The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) administers Georgia Medicaid, and its fiscal agent, Gainwell Technologies, runs GAMMIS, where applications are filed under Provider Enrollment. Two details catch practices off guard: the practice name has to match the W-9 exactly, and some applicants are asked for an IRS 147C letter to confirm the tax ID. GAMMIS issues an Application Tracking Number partway through the application, and every required document has to be uploaded before submission. Our Georgia Medicaid provider enrollment guide walks through each panel.

One Verification, Separate Contracts

Georgia’s managed care plans, called Care Management Organizations, credential through a single NCQA-certified verification organization built into GAMMIS. DCH says that organization decides within 45 calendar days of a complete application. You still sign a contract with each CMO. The current CMOs are:

  • Amerigroup
  • CareSource
  • Peach State Health Plan

Their contracts run through June 30, 2027. A 2024 procurement that named different plans was still under protest as of April 2026, so the lineup may change, and we will update contracts if it does.

Behavioral Health Credentialing in Georgia

Since January 1, 2022, LPCs, LCSWs, and LMFTs have been able to enroll in Georgia fee-for-service Medicaid under Psychological and Therapy Services, but that coverage is limited to members under 21. Therapists who see adults through the CMOs can use the managed-care-only enrollment instead. Behavioral health agencies also need approval and a contract from the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). See our mental and behavioral health credentialing services and Georgia mental health billing services.

Groups and Ordering Clinicians

Georgia’s separate group billing enrollment requires at least two affiliated individual providers, and both the group and each clinician have to be enrolled and linked. Clinicians who only order, prescribe, or refer have had to be enrolled since April 2013, and their NPI must appear on CMO claims; Georgia allows retroactive OPR enrollment when the application is filed within 60 days of the date of service.

Revalidation Is Enforced

Georgia requires revalidation at least every five years. Providers who had not revalidated were suspended effective July 1, 2026, claims for dates of service after suspension are not paid, and termination follows 30 days later. We watch for revalidation notices and file well ahead of the deadline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to credential separately with each Georgia CMO?

Credentialing is centralized through one verification organization in GAMMIS, but you still contract with each CMO.

Can Georgia therapists see adult Medicaid members?

Through the CMOs, yes. Fee-for-service coverage for LPCs, LCSWs, and LMFTs is limited to members under 21, so managed-care-only enrollment fits therapists who see adults.

What happens if a Georgia provider misses revalidation?

The provider is suspended, claims after the suspension date are not paid, and termination follows after 30 days.

Does the practice name have to match the W-9?

Yes, exactly. A mismatch is one of the most common reasons Georgia applications stall.
